The shop you mention was, far back, a butchers, but in my lifetime, last 70 years, it was a doctors surgery. Dr's Reynolds and Emmerson had it, Dr Robertson was in Oswald street and Dr Thompson was in hollydogs house.
The shop on the corner in Newburgh street was the Handyshop, prop. was Jimmy Turnbull who had it for years then it was taken over by his assistant, Edith Taylor who had it until it was converted into housing.
